Happy 2010!!

Officer/Committee Reports and Announcements

President—Mary Denny

As I sat down to write the President’s message, I am ready to say Merry

Christmas, but by the time you receive this newsletter, Christmas 2009 will be

history. However, I can wish you the very best in 2010 and Happy Painting.

Thanks to everyone who worked on the Christmas luncheon, it was a wonderful,

successful and enjoyable party.

Our January meeting will be on January 6, 2010 at the Inman House at 7:30 p.m.

We look forward to seeing all of you there. Please plan to attend.

Our next major event will be the CAPA convention in March. For convention

information check your November/December issue of the CAPA Newsletter. It is

time to start or finish painting your convention display piece. Let go for the

100% participation $50.00 prize. If you know of any college student who is

majoring in Art or an art-related field, tell them about the CAPA $500.00 scholarship

and encourage them to apply. The scholarship application is in the

November/December issue of the CAPA Newsletter. Make a copy and give it to

them.

Bring your Friendship cup to the meeting. Prior to the meeting, divide your cup

into seven (7) or eight (8) approximately equal selections and put your name on

it. The dividing lines and your name must be fired on. We will trade cups during

the next eightclub meetings, or longer, if needed.

If there is anyone who has a burning desire to work on the by-laws, please

contact Mary Denny. I would love to have you join the by-law team.

Who would like to serve on the 2010-2011 nominating committee? We need to

put together a nominating committee to develop a slate of officers for 2010-2011.

This slate of officers will need to work very closely with the 2011 CAPA state

convention committee.

Here’s wishing you the best in 2010—HAPPY NEW YEAR!

SCVPA December 7, 2009 Meeting Minutes

Mary Denny, President called the meeting to order at 12:09 pm at Mama Mia’s

restaurant.

The meeting minutes from the November meeting were to be amended to read

that a mistake had been made regarding the taxes for the CAPA pieces that were

picked up from Maryland China at the show. The minutes should have read that

we did not pay for shipping.

The minutes will be amended to read that the hearts to paint was defeated, not

tabled. Also the minutes will now read that there was not a program at the

November meeting.

Diane Holdrege tallied the money for the three raffle pieces.

There were no reports from the officers.

Seminars:

If you are interested in the Paula White seminar May 19,20,&21, contact Virginia

Otey. CAPA is donating $400.00 to offset the costs. Annette Cogliandro offered

her home for Paula White to stay while she is here.

If you are interested in painting Friendship cups, bring your cup to the January

meeting, sectioned off, with your name on it.

The gossip tiles that we will be painting 12 of will be at the January meeting.

Mary Denny will paint the first one, and names will be drawn to paint the

remaining 11.

New Business:

The Santa Clara home tour brochure had an article about Cheryl Trott. Louise

will bring some copies to her family and craft friends.

Arlene Norsworthy reported that the mugs that we painted and donated for the

home tour raffle went extremely well. She is hoping that next year the raffle tickets

will come out earlier so that we can make even more money for the Inman

consortium.

Mercedes made a motion for the meeting to adjourn and Audrey seconded.

Sue Shears, Secretary

Happy Holidays!
